Erika's Rally Blog

I am the 2wd United States Rally Champion. The first woman to win such a title in US history.
This blog began as my space to document my car build and has since evolved into a place to discuss the demands and challenges a woman faces in such a demanding sport.

Prescott Rally 2010

Results: 4th 2wd

United States Rally Championship- 1st Place 2wd

I arrived at Prescott with a few people to beat for my title. So right when I got to town I scoped out the competition. Immediately forming friendships with the people I was there to beat which was the tone of the entire weekend. The west coast competitors are such amazing friends. I had such an amazing time getting to know them and playing on their amazing stages.

Prescott is basically 1 20 miles stage ran back and forth in a couple configurations with picturesque high desert views including 1,000 foot drops through narrow, technical stretches.

The second stage was in the dark. Equipped with my lightpods I realized why most of the other cars had bumper lights not hood pods. I drove the entire stage with only my low beams because the dust was so bad.

Our times were good and I finished the following day ahead of the few points contenders for the championship as well as gaining a new found confidence on the challenging roads of Arizona.

Winning the championship meant so much to me and my co-driver Jason. It is hard to put words to how it felt to hear I won as well as being awarded the Carl Merrill Spirit of Rally Award.
